Mission: Auburn City Court has jurisdiction for criminal and civil matters in the City of Auburn.
Services:
Criminal Matters - For crimes committed in the City of Auburn. The court has jurisdiction to arraign defendants on felony, misdemeanors and violation offenses. City Court can hold preliminary hearings on felony cases before they are transferred to County Court. The Court only has jurisdiction to dispose of misdemeanors and violations. Felony disposition are the jurisdiction of Cayuga County Court.

Youth Programs -

Jury Trials - The Commissioner of Jurors may summon residents of Cayuga County for jury duty at Auburn City Court. Jury trials are scheduled during one week each month. Civil Matters - Civil actions are for the recovery of money where the amount does not exceed $15,000.
Eviction Court - for properties located in the City of Auburn is held Wednesday and Friday at 9:00am. Small Claims Court - City Court has jurisdiction if the person being sued resides or is employed in Cayuga County. The maximum amount for which you can sue is $5,000. Small Claims Court meets Tuesday and Thursday at 1:15pm, 2:00pm and 3:00pm; and at 6:30pm on the 1st Wednesday of the month.
Commercial Claims Court - When the person filing a claim is a partnership or corporation, they must file a commercial claim rather than a small claim. The maximum amount for which you can sue is $3,000. Commercial Claims Court meets Tuesday and Thursday at 1:15pm and at 6:30pm on the 1st Wednesday of the month.

Mission: ³Building Bridges Instead of Walls" - the Auburn Hospitality Associationıs mission is to help maintain and strengthen the ties between prisoners and their friends and families by making visiting less stressful, and by providing some needed services.
Services: The center is located across the street from the main gate of the Auburn Correctional Facility. It is a place where visitors can feel welcome, safe and comfortable. The facilities of the center are open to all persons who have a friend or relative incarcerated at Auburn, Cayuga, Butler or other area correctional facilities. The center serves as terminal for vans and buses from the New York City area and a facility van shuttles family reunion visitors to and from the Wall Street Gate. Experienced staff and volunteers are available to help visitors with emergencies and to explain facility regulations. The Center staffs the Childrenıs Corner, which is a small area of the visiting room on the Auburn Correctional Facility for the many youngsters who come to see their fathers, brothers, or uncles on weekends. Prisoners and their young visitors are encouraged to interact in a relaxed, child-centered environment. There is child sized furniture, as well as toys, books and craft materials to make prison visiting less stressful.

Mission: The Office of Planning and Economic Development (OPED) is a full service Planning and Development Office. The staff facilitates and implements Physical Planning, Long Range Capital Improvement Planning, Community Development Block Grant program, Business Retention, Expansion and Attraction, and Empire Zone Program for City residents and businesses. Physical Planning relates to the land use controls and their Comprehensive Plan basis, and includes the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Appeals. Long Range Capital Improvement Planning relates to the use of City and outside funding for the major capital improvements to the Cityıs infrastructure and facilities.
Services:
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program - Provides funding to the City of Auburn for activities that meet a broad range of eligible activities, but that are used for locally determined programs. The areas involved include Housing, Public Improvements, Public Services, Economic Development and Administration. Typical City client services and contacts are Housing Rehabilitation, and Sewer and Water Line Replacement, contact Jennifer Haines; Handicapped Ramps for residential properties, contact Tom Schilling, Options for Independence at (315) 255-3447. The City CDBG also offers limited assistance to local agencies with Funding for human services activities that meet the local priorities. Business Retention, Expansion and Attraction - The OPED has available a full range of programs available to assist small, medium or large businesses offer new or retained jobs in the City. The Small Business Assistance Program (SBAP) offers small CDBG funded loans to encourage employment opportunities for low or moderate-income persons, contact Cynthia Aikman at (315) 255-4115. The Auburn Industrial Development Authority (AIDA) offers financing packages for larger projects using Industrial Revenue Bonds, contact Cynthia Aikman, AIDA Executive Director at (315) 255-4115. Auburn Empire Zone Program - The OPED offers assistance to local certified businesses located in the 2 square mile Empire Zone Program, including sales and wage tax benefits, negotiated utility benefits. The Empire Zone Program includes a small site in the Aurelius Industrial Park. Mission: Provides social interaction for Senior Citizens.
Services: Lunches served from Mon. - Fri. with a donation of $2.75; Physical recreation and exercise programs including dances, special dinners, bowling, and day trips. Programs also include crafts, painting, ceramics, cribbage, needlecrafts, quilting, bingo, cards, lively entertainment, and sing-a-longs;
Community interaction is provided with a variety of local officials and professionals speaking on pertinent topics; Medical services include blood pressure screenings, blood work, and a representative from Miracle Ear; and
Religious services are held monthly.
A Senior Citizen Membership Card is required to participate in programs. There is a $1.00 per year membership donation fee that is applied toward all functions. One does not have to be a resident of Schwartz Towers in order to participate.

Mission: Auroraıs professional staff works to promote independence and opportunity for people of all ages with sensory impairments to enable them to live independently, to cope with their sensory loss, and to have full access to the communities in which they live. Aurora of Central New York, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit agency that provides rehabilitation services for people who are blind, visually impaired, Deaf, hard of hearing, late-deafened or Deaf/blind in a five-county area, including Cayuga County.
Services: Rehabilitation services include social work, adaptive daily living skills instruction, orientation & mobility instruction, low vision services, adaptive technology evaluation and training, early intervention and childrenıs instructional services, Veteranıs Administration Hospitalıs telephone switchboard service staffed by individuals with visual impairments, vocational & employment services, NYS certified summer education program for Deaf/hard of hearing children, sign language instruction and sign language interpreting service.
Referral: Aurora will accept referrals for any person, adult or child, who has a visual or hearing impairment severe enough to affect the individualıs ability to function safely and independently. Most services are available to residents of Cayuga County.
Volunteer Opportunities: Mass mailings, assist with special projects and fundraising events, Speakerıs Bureau, assistance with craft and support groups, reader for book clubs and staffing at the NYS Fair Booth. Contact Diane LaBeff for more information.
