AUBURN - A 52-year-old Auburn woman pleaded guilty to first-degree felony attempted assault for driving three Brooklyn teenagers to an Auburn residence where they opened fire on a group of people with 12-gauge shotguns.
Leslie Jo Peltier, 52, of 238 State St., admitted in Cayuga County Court Thursday that she went to New York City to pick up the three teenagers the day before they opened fire at several people standing in front of a Washington Street apartment last June.
Peltier also admitted she went to Dick's Sporting Goods to buy the shotguns prior to the incident.
According to police, at least two of the teenagers fired three or four deer slugs at the group, superficially wounding a 31-year-old man.
That man is believed to have been struck by bullet wadding and not an actual bullet, police said.
Peltier acted as the getaway driver during the shooting, police said.
Peltier previously told police one of the people in the group either fired at her or her son first, but she denied any such incident occurred during her plea allocution.
Cayuga County District Attorney Jon Budelmann said Peltier knew one of the teenagers from her work at the Louis Gossett Jr. Residential Center in Lansing.
A spokeswoman for the state's Office of Children and Family Services said Peltier resigned from her position as a guard at the facility on Sept. 17.
Prior to the shooting Peltier was placed on administrative leave for an undisclosed reason.
Three teenagers, Nigee Sanders, 16, Daquan Alfonz Breland, 19, and Jacquan Cleveland Breland, 19, have also been charged for their alleged involvement in the shooting.
All three teenagers are cousins, Budelmann said.
In exchange for pleading guilty, Peltier faces a 3.5- to 10-year determinate prison sentence with 2.5 to five years of post-release supervision.
Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 7.
