The city of Auburn will wrap up later this week its annual effort to keep some winged visitors from getting too cozy.
The city's 10-day crow hazing program began last Monday. Every day, city crews have been out from 4 to 8 a.m. and again from 4 to 8 p.m. with lasers, pyrotechnics and call boxes to aggravate the large number of crows settling in the area for the season.
The hazing will continue through Thursday, according to city officials.
The city has been carrying out the crow hazing program for more than five years, Auburn Superintendent of Public Works Jerry DelFavero said last week. It was first designed by the federal government as a way to keep the troublesome flocks of crows from congregating in the city.
DelFavero said the city has occasionally carried out the program two times during the same season when crows returned in large numbers.
Though the birds are known for their intelligence, local residents and officials have complained about the noise and messes created by the crows.

The people are way more a nuisance than the crows, should we just start shooting them too? "
