AUBURN - A 51-year-old Victory man was sentenced in Cayuga County Court Thursday to two to four years in prison for stealing more than $50,000 in copper and for possessing marijuana and illegally possessing prescription painkillers.
Steven Aucter, of 12642 Upton Road, pleaded guilty to second-degree possession of marijuana and third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, both felonies on Aug. 20.
Aucter also pleaded guilty to four misdemeanors.
As a part of the sentence, Aucter will give up his right to $21,000 in cash that was seized when police executed a search warrant at his home in 2008.
Aucter had already sold $30,000 worth of copper before he was arrested, Cayuga County District Attorney Jon Budelmann said.
Budelmann said police were originally investigating the copper theft when they discovered the drugs in Aucter's home.
Aucter also admitted he is a second-felony offender with a burglary and robbery conviction in 1992 and another conviction in 1984.
Aucter's sentence will run concurrent to a two- to four-year sentence handed down in Wayne County Court for similar charges.
Also in court:

Cylone Thomas, 38, of 448 Kosciuszko St., Brooklyn, pleaded not guilty to first-degree promoting prison contraband, a felony, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
