AUBURN -- A 45-year-old Skaneateles man was sentenced in Cayuga County Court Tuesday to five years of shock probation for breaking into Kinney Drugs in Moravia to steal prescription painkillers.
Robert Chadwick, of 413 Jordan St., pleaded guilty on Sept. 29 to third-degree felony burglary for using a drill to break into the Moravia drugstore in to steal Oxycontin on April 11.
Cayuga County District Attorney Jon Budelmann said that according to a pre-sentence report it appeared that Chadwick had been ingesting about 300 prescription pills every two weeks prior to his arrest.
Chadwick, who was credited with time served for the shock portion of his sentenced, told the court he plans to stay with friends in Union Springs after he is released from the Cayuga County Jail, where he had been held pending sentencing.
