Sene broke a scoreless tie, burying a penalty kick in double overtime to give the Express a 1-0 victory over Morrisville State in a North Eastern Athletic Conference first-round game Tuesday in Aurora.
Sene was fouled inside the 18 early in the second overtime. After a stutter step to make Mustangs' goalie Joe Bunzey hesitate, Sene buried the penalty shot into the lower right corner of the net.
Wells (7-12), the seventh seed, hosts No. 2 SUNY IT (12-6) in the quarterfinals at 11:30 a.m. The Express defeated the Wildcats 2-1 in a regular-season game.
Morrisville outshot Wells 23-16, with both teams having four corner kicks.
The victory marks the first time the Wells men's soccer team has won a playoff game, while also setting the program record for wins in a season.
