As the historian for the town of Summer Hill I would like to thank The Citizen for their usual excellent efforts in helping to promote events we hold in the southern part of the county.
The recent free-to-the-public event, held at Summer Hill Town Hall - in which over a dozen artisans demonstrated their skills - was a big success!
Visitors witnessed demonstrations rarely seen by the public (i.e. lace making, porcelain painting, alpaca wool weaving, quilt making, wood working, chair caning, etc.)
Many of the artisans had their finished items available for purchase.
We plan to make the event an annual one.
Hopefully other areas of the county will follow our example, showcasing their own artisans, so that it becomes an all-day event enabling the public to drive around the county to see the county's best, demonstrating their skills.
