After reading the comments from a former resident in Monday's The Citizen, I invite members of our community to attend the public forum on the capital project at West Middle School this Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 6:30 p.m. There will be another, at East Middle School, on the 19th.
Contrary to the sentiment in that gas-filled letter, the school board has applied extraordinary due diligence to this effort. It represents long-term investments in critical infrastructure. It creates jobs.
And, because it will benefit from public funding and historically low interest rates, the cost to us taxpayers will be minimal. Please attend the forums. Ask questions. Get the facts.

In today's society with the recession, increased healthcare prices, increased cost of living, higher taxes, outragious gas prices, and anything else I may have missed, how can YOU or ANYONE call ANYTHING M-I-N-I-M-A-L???
Stop sounding like such a politician! We all know what "public funding" means and here you are, throwing it out there like we're "down here" and you're at the top of your little imaginary ladder. "Go to the public forums" you say... Ha, sure, to hear why a select few things this bogus is a good idea.
Answer me this, Mr. School Board Member.... Why is it, after a tremendous first season a year ago, is the Auburn School District NOT sponsoring the bowling team?
Sure, I'll go to the public forums and you, Mr. Pabis, and everyone else will see their one time suporter ask questions that they cannot answer!!!! "
