Nate Markham started off the scoring with a 70-yard kickoff return and the Southern Springs football team never took its foot off the gas pedal, toppling Watkins Glen 54-0 Saturday at Union Springs High School.
Markham added another rushing touchdown, to go with 75 yards on the ground. Shane Groom (57 yards), Brandon Winter (52 yards), Mark DeRegis (37 yards), James Riester (41 yards), Steve Hewitt (23 yards) and Hayden Ferguson (19 yards) all contributed to the rushing attack. Delaney, Winter, Groom, Ferguson and Justin Quimby each scored touchdowns.
Quarterback Jason Wright also completed a 27-yard touchdown pass to Matt Heindl.
Markham led the Southern Springs defense with eight tackles, while Adam Orasi and Quimby each had five tackles. Joseph Marshall had an interception.
“We dominated from the get-go,” Springs head coach Jay Noonan said.
Southern Springs (4-4) hosts Candor next Saturday in the season finale.
