A woman died after being injured in a one-car crash in Springport Friday afternoon.
The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office said that a 1999 Nissan being driven by Allison Anne Strodel, 19, of Skaneateles, was southbound on Route 326 in Springport just after noon when the car failed to negotiate a curve and went off the road, striking a tree.
Police said that Strodel was transported by ambulance to University Hospital in Syracuse, where she was initially listed in serious condition. A hospital spokesperson said that she was in fair condition Friday night.
Strodel's passenger, Kim E. Brenegar, 49, of Washington D.C., was flown by helicopter to University Hospital in critical condition, and later died, according to the hospital.
The sheriff's office is still investigating the cause of the crash and ask anyone with any information to contact Detective Brian Schenck at 253-3545.
