“The first three games we had made it a tough start,” Auburn coach Carrie Butler said. “We faced and lost to Central Square, Liverpool and Oswego right off the bat and now we need to try and build some confidence. They are also trying to get used to a new coach and my different defensive strategies. They are learning a lot. We are starting to play a lot better though, making minor adjustments here and there - they have to believe in themselves.”
Butler believes that one big win could do wonders for the squad.
“We want to knock off one of these big teams,” she said. “We'd also like to start winning games and in order to do that we need to improve hitting overall as a team, improve our serve receives and work on not giving away points with little errors. We are trying to increase our focus and intensity in every play.”
The Maroons (1-7) travel to face Nottingham today.
