HIT: To Carol Johnson, of Auburn, who was selected to help decorate the Donate Life float, that will appear in the annual New Year's Day Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, Calif.
The float promotes organ donation, a cause that Johnson has spent much time on. Johnson's son Kenneth Sapp died five years ago but his organs were donated to help others.
Johnson now has to raise the funds needed to make the trip. Tonight, there's a pasta dinner and raffle at the Auburn United Methodist Church at 99 South St.
MISS: To the guilty plea of an Auburn day care provider who shook an infant, causing injuries to the child.
The woman was not following state guidelines for day care, which may have created the conditions that led to this tragic incident. Hopefully, this sad story is one that won't be repeated.
HIT: To Auburn High School running back Ismail Brooks who has enjoyed a two-game stretch that ranks up as one of the best in Section III football history.
Brooks has scored 14 touchdowns over the last two games - seven in each contest - an amazing feat. Of course, as noteworthy as Brooks' performance has been, football is a team sport, so some of the credit must go to the offensive linemen who helped spring Brooks into the end zone.
Brooks and the Maroons travel to Utica Proctor tonight, we'll see if he can continue his amazing run as Auburn High tries to make the Section III, Class AA playoffs.
HIT: To the Women's Ministry at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Auburn. The group's meetings help women deal with the stress of everyday life.
We all know how much stress there is these days, so it's nice to see people make an effort to help others.
