Mackey leads Blue Devils

The Moravia field hockey team shut out Spencer-Van Etten 7-0 Wednesday as Hannah Mackey led with three goals.
Also leading the Blue Devils were Maria Heffernan, who contributed one goal and one assist, while Michelle Mueller, Katie Lupo and Haley Potter each added one goal and Amanda Stone recorded one save.

Moravia (3-1) travels to Marathon Friday.

Tioga 4, Southern Springs 2

Molly Clifford scored both goals for Southern Springs with one coming on a penalty stroke.

It was a second-half surge for Southern Springs that kept them in the game after a slow start.

Southern Springs (0-1) travels to Whitney Point Friday.

BOYS GOLF

Auburn 195, Central Square 215

Bob Dushatinski, Bob Gage and Tim Daniels led the Maroons to a big win at Greenview Country Club, as the trio earned a tie for medalist with a score of 38.

Junior Nick Herlihy qualified for sectionals with a 40, while Nickita Rosenblum carded a 41 to round out the team.

Auburn (6-2 overall, 5-2 league) hosts Henninger in a big league match at Highland Golf Club Monday.

GIRLS SOCCER

Union Springs 5, Groton 1

The Wolves' Amanda Cuff tallied three goals and Alexa Schooley had two, while Sam Shaheen recorded five saves.

Union Springs also topped Groton in both shots (16-8) and corner kicks (5-3).

GIRLS TENNIS

Skaneateles 6, Auburn 1

Claire Minnoe earned the only victory for the Maroons, defeating Amrita Beol 6-0, 6-0 in first singles.

In second singles, the Lakers' Elizabeth Wayne defeated Palak Patel 6-1, 6-1 and in third singles Hilary Fenner topped Auburn's Sam Cadwallader 6-1. 6-0.

In first doubles, Skaneateles' Katherine Hill and Megan Holleran topped Jaime Bruno and Jenna Bruno, 6-0, 6-1.

Ryan Merle and Sidney Lawson won in second doubles for the Lakers, defeating Auburn's Hanora Barron and Aiswarya Irri. Skaneateles also won third doubles with Casey VanSlyke and Kathryn Magee beating Molly Brown and Heidi Vanbuskirk 6-2, 6-1, while in fourth doubles, Dani Alderman and Katharina Kulik topped Angela Debenedetto and Christina Granato of Auburn 6-3, 6-1.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Bishop Grimes/Bishop Ludden 17, Weedsport 44

Running for the Warriors were Logan Thompson who took fifth place overall (19:58), Seth Baker followed in sixth (20:07), James Ryan finished 11th (22:40), Ryan Wager ended in 13th place (23:00), Austin Bates followed in 14th (27:02) and Nick Sanchez took 15th (28:27).

Weedsport travels to the Chittenango Invitational at Jamesville Beach Saturday and hosts Fabius Pompey in its next dual meet Wednesday.

West Genesee 15, Auburn 48

Pat Lattimore paced the Maroons in sixth place overall (17:24), John Tehan took 13th (18:57), Andy Schemerhorn finished in 16th place (19:06), Mike Piwinski finished in 19th place (19:42) and Alex Tabone took 23rd (20:08).

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

West Genesee 15, Auburn 47

Pacing the Maroons were Patricia Fleischman in sixth place (21:44), Meghan Guzewicz in eighth place (22:09), Kerry Lupo in 11th place (22:24), Kim Lupo in 14th place (22:44) and Alyssa Morrisette took 18th (23:59).

Bishop Grimes/Bishop Ludden 28, Weedsport 30

Alyssa O'Bryan finished fourth overall to pace the Warriors with a time of 23:41, Erin Daly took fifth (24:32), Nicole Greer ended in sixth place (24:44), Michele Donahue finished in seventh (24:56), Kaitlin Hammersley took eighth place (25:35) and Natalie Liddiard rounded it out in ninth place (25:37).

Weedsport travels to the Chittenango Invitational in Jamesville Beach Saturday.

GIRLS SWIMMING

Skaneateles 94, Manlius Pebble Hill 82

Nikki Cole led the Lakers with three first-place finishes. She won the 50 free (27.91), was a part of the first-place 200 medley relay (2:10.25) along with Mandi Steves, Paige Williams and Amanda Shoenfelt, while also being a part of the first place 200 free relay (1:53.56) along with Shoenfelt, Rachael DeWitt and Sarah Sawyer.

Sawyer also won the 200 free (2:15.05) and the 500 free (6:00.66) and Williams took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:22.00).

Also winning for Skaneateles was Sharon Adams who earned first place in diving (122.85).
