HIT: To another successful Bar-B-Cayuga, a family oriented picnic at Emerson Park that raises money for the Cayuga Museum.
Live music, raffles and, of course, barbecue brought attention to the museum's events and brought in some cash to help with things such as the restoration of the museum's carriage house.
The museum is a gem, and we're glad to see so many working to support it.
MISS: To another weekend of tragedy in Cayuga County.
A man out for a motorcycle ride was killed Friday in a crash in Owasco. A young man drowned while swimming with friends in Cross Lake Saturday evening. And two sisters were killed in a Sunday afternoon crash in Sennett.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of all those involved, and out thanks go out to our dedicated emergency workers, who have had some very difficult jobs to do in recent weeks.
HIT: To a classic car show organized by Auburn Correctional Facility workers.
The inaugural event brought together the passion for unique rides shared by many at the prison and offered chance for current and retired ACF employees to interact with the general public in a relaxed setting.
We hope the event drew enough interest to help it become an annual event.
MISS: To a Martville man for failing to learn his lesson.
Jonathon VanAntwerp, 22, recently admitted that, among other crimes, he surprised a female bartender who was leaving work in Victory and robbed the bar. At the time of his arrest he was on parole for committing a nearly identical robbery in 2004.
VanAntwerp got a relatively light sentence the first time. He faces as much as 10 years in prison this time, and we believe he deserves to serve every one of them.
