AUBURN - A 22-year-old Martville man faces up to 10 years in prison after he pleaded guilty in Cayuga County Court Tuesday to two robberies and one burglary.
In the first robbery, Jonathon VanAntwerp, of 13633 State Route 38, said he and a co-defendant kicked down the door of a Sterling resident's home at 2 a.m. on Jan 28 in order to steal $970 in cash, a Nintendo Wii and other electronic equipment.
The homeowner was subdued during the robbery, VanAntwerp said.
In the second robbery, VanAntwerp admitted to jumping a bartender as she left the I.O.O.B Club in Victory at 11 a.m. on Feb. 2, forcing her back into the building in order to give him and a co-defendant nearly $1,000 in cash.
VanAntwerp also admitted to stealing two safes when he burglarized a Sterling home on Jan 21.
Cayuga County District Attorney Jon Budelmann said charges are pending against VanAntwerp's accused accomplice, Gary Miller, of the same address.
VanAntwerp will be sentenced for second-degree burglary and two counts of second-degree robbery, all felonies, on Sept. 24.
VanAntwerp was previously convicted of robbing the Grace's Food Store in Wolcott in 2003. In that incident, VanAntwerp and another masked teenager were armed with knives when they entered the store and tied up two employees with tape before forcing a third worker to empty the store's cash registers and safe.
Also in court:
* An Auburn teenager's fate was left in the judge's hands after he pleaded guilty to two felonies for burning a stolen car and burglarizing a Thornton Avenue residence.
Cody Ryan, 17, of 10 Second Ave., admitted he helped pour lighter fluid over a stolen 1998 Toyota Camry on North Division Street on March 23 in order to destroy any evidence in the ensuing inferno.
Ryan also admitted that he acted as a lookout and organized transportation for a March 23 burglary that netted Ryan and his accomplice a large safe.
Charles Allen, 21, of 2465 Dublin Road, Auburn, will be sentenced for his role in both incidents on Sept. 22.
Cayuga County Judge Thomas Leone said he would consider granting Ryan youthful offender status, which would seal his conviction.
While a sentence recommendation was not offered, Budelmann said Ryan would be granted immunity if he cooperates in several ongoing burglary cases.
Sentencing was set for Oct. 8.
* A convicted drug dealer could go to prison for six years after he pleaded guilty to selling $300 worth of cocaine to a confidential informant on Dec. 6.
Budelmann said Lemont Johnson, 33, of V-124 Oak Creek Townhouse, Auburn, has four prior felony convictions, three of which were drug-related.
Johnson, who pleaded guilty to third-degree felony criminal sale of a controlled substance, will be sentenced on Sept. 24.
* Four days before he was scheduled to go to trial, a Port Byron man pleaded guilty selling cocaine to an undercover informant.
Joshua Tanner, 25, of 1 Shir Way, Port Byron, could have received nine years in prison if convicted at trial, but will instead be sentenced on Oct. 8 to up to two years in prison with two years of post-release supervision.
* Bernard Slater Jr., 30, of 5321 Cream Hollow Road, Moravia, expected to received a one- to three-year shock camp eligible prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to third-degree felony burglary.
* Gerald Currier, 33, of 36 Belmont Ave., Auburn, pleaded guilty to first-degree felony criminal contempt and second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor.
