After jumping out to a 6-2, the Auburn Doubledays let the Batavia Muckdogs back in the game, but somehow held on a a 6-5 wi n Saturday.
In the bottom of the ninth, a Doubledays' error and passed ball allowed the tying run to reach third, but Chad Beck induced a groundout to preserve the victory.
Dave Sever pitched 5 2-3 innings for Auburn, allowing three hits, an earned run and a walk while striking out nine in the win. Reliever Zach Outman went 1 1-3 innings, giving up two hits and an earned run.
Bradley Glenn hit his first home run of the season in a two-run sixth inning for the Doubledays, who managed to stay out of the Pinckney Division cellar with the win.
The Doubledays' biggest inning was the eighth. After a Jimmy Gonzalez walk, a Chris Hopkins sacrifice bunt and a Jonthan Fernandez walk - his third of the day - Glenn picked up his second RBI on a groundout. Yan Gomes drew a walk and Welinton Ramirez opened the door with a triple, bringing in two runs.
Batavia scored three runs in the eighth off Beck, who surrendered three runs off two hits. Ryde Rodriguez and Ivan Castro each led the Muckdogs with two hits.
Auburn (6-9) hosts Batavia in a doubleheader today at Falcon Park.
