Gas drills threaten our clean water

How much do you value clean water?
Do you have a well for your water and live in a rural area which is served by this newspaper?

If you do, just how much do you value this water as being clean and suitable for use for drinking and bathing and watering your garden and feeding your animals? Do you value this water, this precious water?

Now, coming to your rural neighborhood within a year or three is the possibility of your waters and many waters in the local aquifers of being polluted. Polluted, polluted, polluted ...

Polluted with what? Polluted by whom?

Polluted with fracturing fluids that are the two or three million gallons of water per well injected along with the hazardous chemicals introduced into what starts out as clean water, and then pumped into the Marcellus shale under high pressure, say 5,000 psi, in order to fracture this shale, for to recover natural gas from out of this shale formation.

This operation shall be done by gas companies who want to make money, lots of money. They go by such names as Halliburton, Cheney's old company.

That ought to assure that it's safe.

How much is your clean water worth?
