Palin resigning as Alaska governor

WASILLA, Alaska (AP) — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said Friday she is resigning from office at the end of the month, raising speculation that she would focus on a run for the White House in the 2012 race.
The former Republican vice presidential candidate made the surprise announcement from her home in suburban Wasilla on Friday morning. She said she would step down July 26 but didn't announce her plans.
"Once I decided not to run for re-election, I also felt that to embrace the conventional Lame Duck status in this particular climate would just be another dose of politics as usual, something I campaigned against and will always oppose," Palin said in a statement released by her office.
"It is my duty to always protect our great state. With that in mind, my family and I determined that it is best to make a difference this summer, and I am willing to change things, so that this administration, with its positive agenda, its accomplishments, and its successful road to an incredible future, can continue without interruption and with great administrative and legislative success," she said.
Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be inaugurated at the governor's picnic in Fairbanks at the end of the month, Palin spokesman Dave Murrow said.
Palin was first elected in 2006 on a populist platform. But her popularity has waned as she waged in partisan politics following her return from the presidential campaign. Her term would have ended in 2010.

You said it! The Republicans are slowly dying out and they are doing NOTHING to stop it! Palin ONLY appeals to the radical Ultra Right fringe of their party. There is NO WAY she will ever appeal to the country as a whole, unless she turns herself around and becomes more "compassionate" an a LOT less "conservative", which I doubt she will ever do.
First, these people saddled us with the dork that is W. Bush and his 'Darth Vader' vice, Cheney--who started a war based on LIES and got us into the worst Recession and 'tax cuts for the rich' worst Deregulation since the Great Depression. Now they want to throw Palin out at us again? No way will she Ever be their candidate; unless they want to totally destroy their party for good... "

Why should God Bless her anymore than He blesses the rest of us? She's only mortal and Imperfect--Bless her Heart...
I can't believe sometimes that I actually was born in Auburn--the great Hicksville Capital of the US. You people must be shoveling too much powder--and I don't mean SNOW! "

Also by the way she is home and doing a fabulus job as mother grandmother and govener of her state.
You all sound like the TV set for Golden Girls. Get real.
Lastly the resignation isn't mysterious, it just feels that way because you just put your other foot in your mouth. "

You talk about President Bush and a monarchy, he did not have czars like Obama does. They answer only to him. Obama circumvents the Constitution with his every move.
Sarah Palin has more smarts than Obama ever will.
May God Bless Her! "

She should go home and concentrate on being a mother to her 5 children and a Grandma to her daughter's new baby.
I hope she isn't ill or something. I don't like Anyone to be ill--not even W. Bush or D. Cheney, even after they tried to make a monarchy here and Illegally invaded Iraq for NO GOOD reason.
We shall soon find out what this mysterious resignation really is all about... "
