Two teenagers were arrested for allegedly stealing electronic devices from cars parked in the area of State and Pulaski streets Wednesday, the Auburn Police Department said.
A K9 patrol unit spotted a group of teenagers in the area of Rock Avenue at 1:51 a.m., police said. When the officer approach to ask what they were doing, they ran away.

Police said that when they located some of the people a short time later in the area of State and Perrine streets, two of them had several electronic devices and could not explain where they got them.

One item, a GPS unit, was discovered to have been stolen from a Pulaski Street resident, police said.

Police said other electronic devices were recovered from the two teenagers, and that they are being held as evidence until the rightful owners can be found.

Police urge any Pulaski or State street-area residents to file a report with the APD if they discover they're missing any items. Residents can contact police at 253-3235.

Police said a 17-year-old Union Springs resident and a 17-year-old Auburn resident were charged with fifth-degree possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor. The Citizen does not name defendants under 18 years old unless they face felony charges.

Both defendants are due back in Auburn City Court Thursday.
