The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office is investigating an early-morning home invasion in Brutus that sent one victim to the hospital Monday, detectives said Wednesday.
Six males, who used clothing to obscure their identity, broke into an East Brutus Street Road home and threatened the residents with a knife just before 1:30 a.m., Detective Brian Schenck said.
One victim sustained facial injuries during an assault, and was treated and released from Auburn Memorial Hospital that same day, Schenck said.
Schenck added that he believes the suspects were acquainted with the victims because they were familiar with the home.
The suspects appear to have been looking for money, and left with an unspecified amount of cash, Schenck said.
Detectives believe the suspects parked their vehicle near the intersection of East Brutus Street Road and Cooper Road, near the Kenyon Landing Trailer Park, Schenck said.
Anyone who has any information regarding the ongoing investigation is asked to call Schenck at 253-3545.
