Police are searching for a man who threatened an Auburn convenience store clerk with a knife late Monday night.
The Auburn Police Department said that a man with a large knife and a black cloth concealing his face entered Kwik Fill at 134 State St. at about 11:30 p.m. Monday and demanded cash. Police said the clerk turned over some money and that the robber then fled on foot in the direction of Genesee Garden Apartments.

The suspect is a white male, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 160 pounds. He was wearing baggy, black basketball-style shorts that appeared to have a white stripe with red trim on the outer leg area.

Police request that anyone with information about this robbery call the Auburn Police Department at 253-3235 or lead investigator Detective Bryant Bergenstock at 258-9880. Police say that callers may remain anonymous.

" Obviously the bleeding hearts are all busy today. I was fully prepared for the ridiculous comments about how the bad economy is to blame for this moron's decision to rob a convienence store. Too bad--I was in the mood for a good laugh! "

" You know, I have been noticing -- almost all these robbers are SHORT -- do some short men turn to crime to prove they are manly? I have yet to see one of these kind of local crime suspects listed as 5 ft 10 in or taller. "
