Jeremy Morin's uncertainty of his National Hockey League future came to end Saturday when he was selected in the second round with the 45th pick of the NHL Draft by the Atlanta Thrashers.
The Auburn native will play in the Ontario Hockey League for the 2009-10 season as a member of the Kitchener Rangers. The OHL season begins Sept. 18, while they will play their first exhibition game Aug. 30.
Last season, Morin led the United States Development Team in scoring with 33 goals and 59 points, adding five game-winning goals in 55 games. He played in 14 international games and recorded 14 points, eight coming on goals. He was also a key ingredient for the U.S. team, which took home the gold medal, at the Under-18 World Championships where he had a team-leading 10 points.
The Thrashers finished the 2009 season 35-41 for 13th place in the Eastern Conference. They had the fourth overall pick of the draft Friday, selecting center Evander Kane. Early in the second round, they went with defense by drafting Carl Klingberg. Atlanta had a total of nine picks in the seven-round draft.
