Severe thunderstorms likely in the area

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for much of upstate New York, including Cayuga County, through 7 p.m. today.
In addition, a severe thunderstorm warning is currently in effect for north central Cayuga County through 2:30 p.m..

The NWS said conditions are ripe for producing storms that can produce damaging hail. People are advised to seek shelter.
