I was somewhat surprised to read the editorial of June 15, 2009. After rereading it, disgust began to set in. Our representatives were not “off base,” your editorial writers were.
I'm proud of the way these two honorable gentlemen stood up for what is right and proper. If you wish to politicize it, I'm sure there are many Democratic gentlemen that feel the same.
Granted, political figures such as Gov. Palin are fair game for jokes, but let's keep it fair and above board. Letterman was the same joker that referred to Palin as looking like “a slutty airline stewardess” during the presidential contest.
Please advise your editorial staff that in New York state and most other states, 14-year-olds are considered children. Perhaps your editorial should have been directed toward protecting children and respecting women rather than criticizing two good men that went out of their way to do what was morally right.
Fifty years ago there was another “Alaska Day” in Auburn celebrating Alaskan statehood. Unfortunately, the timing was poor. It was held in the winter during one of the worst blizzards on record; everything was shut down. This year, to recognize the 50th anniversary of Alaskan statehood and William H. Seward's role, Gov. Palin graciously accepted Auburn's invitation to come here. If this happened 50 years ago, I'm sure the Osbornes would have written an editorial in line with Mr. Finch and Mr. Kolb.
Rather than support her and her child receiving very reprehensible treatment here in New York state, you chose to criticize those who spoke up to do the right thing.
Mr. Kolb, Mr. Finch - thank you. You represent us well and you did the right thing. I hope all representatives we will have would do the same. Your moms have brought you up well and would be proud of both of you. I am, and thank you.

From Limbaugh in 1993 “Everyone knows the Clintons have a cat. Socks is the White House cat. But did you know there is a White House dog?" And he puts up a picture of Chelsea Clinton. Chelsea Clinton is 13 years old.
Limbaugh: Pelosi was "shaking" at press conference, "could be Botox withdrawal" 5/15/2009
Limbaugh said of Clinton, "She was the only one sitting there who could not cross her legs." 1/28/2008
Appearing at a 1998 Republican Senate fundraiser, McCain reached into the gutter to show his conservative family values with this: "Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno."
Neither of these wimps would ever stand up to anyone in the GOP, least of all the godfather. "
