The Auburn Doubledays used the long ball to pick up their first win of the young season.
Randy Schwartz and Jack Murphy each homered, driving in all of Auburn's runs in a 3-1 win at Jamestown Monday. Schwartz's second-inning blast was a two-run shot.
Three runs was all Auburn starter Evan Crawford needed. The second-year Doubleday allowed two hits and one unearned run in five innings. Austin Armstrong pitched three shutout innings in relief and Chad Beck earned the save, throwing a perfect ninth with two strikeouts.
Jonathan Fernandez (double) had his first two hits of the season.
The Doubledays did commit three errors, and were a paltry 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position.
