Jeslyn Files threw a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts as the Weedsport 8- to 10-year-olds defeated Port Byron 4-1 in a Minor Fast Pitch Softball League game Monday at Weedsport High School. With the win, Weedsport finishes the season undefeated (14-0).

Leading Weedsport offensively were Mikayla Grennell who doubled and scored, Brianna Besaw and Emily Harding singled and scored, Grace Donalds, Cassidy Fyffe and Michaela Farrell each added a single, Mckayla Murray scored once.
“It was an excellent game right down to the wire,” Weedsport coach Gary Donalds said. “I don't know how we stayed undefeated but we did.”
The other team members for Weedsport include Haley Black, Brianna Jackson, Ella Lawler, Makala Mero, Julia Musengo and Mikayla Rathbun.
The coaches are Donalds, Mark Farrell and Bambi Grennell.
On the mound for Port Byron, Erica Helzer struck out 11, while hitting a double and a single at the plate.
Amanda Chutty scored the lone Port Byron run, while also leading defensively at first base.
Allison Ryan played well at third.
“We had pretty good bats all year long,” Port Byron coach Bernie Ryan said. “Weedsport is a solid team all around but we have improved a lot since last year.”

Butera, Hansen pitch Angels to victory

Anna Butera and Katie Hansen combined for eight strikeouts as the Angels defeated the Orioles 15-5 in an Auburn Junior Olympic Softball 11-to-12 year Division game Monday.
Casey Gray led offensively with a double.
Katie Hansen contributed two hits, while Emma Bianco, Anne Giannone, Jamison Valentino, Meg Ryan, Hannah Doty, Maggie Smith and April Wiggins finished with one hit each.
Doty and Baylee Casper put in a good defensive effort behind the plate for the Angels. Carly Vatter and Alyssa Lawrence pitched for the Orioles while Alyssa Lawrence posted two hits.
Kayla Telfar played well defensively.
Red Sox 7, Yankees 6
Pitching for the Red Sox were Kelly Hicks who recorded seven strikeouts, Danielle Vuillemot who threw two strikeouts and Abby Marsden who collected four strikeouts Jenna Brooks, Maggie Flurschutz, Danny Vuillemot, Nina Kowal and Kara Traver each had a hit. Taylor Stearns who struck out eight for the Yankees and Ali Divietro added two strikeouts.

Dolphins 9, Wolverines 2
Erin Chalupnicki threw nine strikeouts while smacking two home runs to lead the offense for the Dolphins. Kristen Scala, Nicole VanArsdale and Taylor Hutchings each recorded one hit.
On the mound for the Wolverines, Danielle Feocco struck out nine, while Abby Miller doubled and Feocco, Alanna Bridgeforth, Hanna Flaherty and Stephanie Crehan each singled.
