Arthur Bellinzoni's letter quotes the Quinnipac study that says 53 percent of New Yorkers now favor gay marriage. However, in 30 states where citizens voted on marriage bills, a majority of people in 30 states believed that marriage should be defined as a union between one man and one woman.
I believe the Bible is truth, written by 40 men, but divinely inspired by God. I think if Jesus was here he would speak with love and kindness, but he would tell the truth.
Homosexuality is clearly against God's plan for us. (See Leviticus 18:22, 20:13, Romans 1:24-27 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-11). In this imperfect world, I think some people are born with homosexual tendencies, but God wants what is best for us.
Marriage was defined by God as he spoke to Moses in Genesis 2:24: “A man will leave his mother and father and be united to his wife, and the two will be one flesh.” NIV. When Jesus was asked about marriage and divorce in Matthew 19:4 and Mark 10:6, he referred back to Genesis 2:24.
Has God changed his mind about the meaning of marriage?
Love isn't the only criteria for marriage. American law has always put restrictions on who can legally marry. It is not a constitutional right for a brother and his half sister, or for first cousins, or for people who are already married.
John Locke, who was consulted by the framers of our Constitution, wrote: “(Human Laws) must be made according to the general Laws of Nature, and without contradiction to any positive Law of Scripture, otherwise they are ill made.”
(America's God and Country Encyclopedia of Quotations, by William J. Federer, p. 398.)

for me it's the simple fact that I believe a marriage is between a man and a woman.
If they want rights of unmarried couples, go to the local library check out the books that tell you HOW TO DO YOUR PAPERWORK! "

I have to admit I love seeing all of the letters on this topic. Even the ones that are so anti...because to me that just indicates that change is happening and people are getting scared. I can't wait until our state joins the ranks of those that have recognized how ridiculous it is to discriminate against gay couples. "
