The Auburn Police Department responded to 2,000 calls for service in May, down 26 calls from the same month a year ago, according to an APD activity report.
Police responded to 10 drug-related calls last month, down from 23 a year ago. Police also responded to 129 assault, burglary, and larceny cases last month.
Police made 250 traffic stops and wrote 445 tickets in May, compared to 284 traffic stops and 269 traffic tickets written a year ago.
According to the report, the APD conducted several details in May targeting aggressive driving violations including driving while intoxicated, speeding, driving without a seat belt and using a cell phone. Officers on those details did not respond to other calls, focusing only on vehicle and traffic violations.
The detectives bureau was assigned 60 new cases and closed 67 previously assigned ones for a total of 10 arrests on 32 charges last month. Those charges included 17 felonies and 15 misdemeanors.
A year ago, detectives were assigned 56 new cases and closed 55 previously assigned investigations. Detectives made seven arrests for 14 felony, 15 misdemeanor and two violation charges.
School resource officers handled 144 incidents in and around school grounds last month. Two juveniles and two adults were arrested in connection to those investigations.
Those incidents involved criminal cases, fighting, bullying and other disruptive behavior.
