I don't know what all the fuss is with Gov. Palin about remarks about her and her children. She's no different than any of the others who've been in the public eye, like Chelsea and Mrs. Clinton -- Hillary --- who have all had remarks made by the comedians.

The dates on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial are incorrect. John Kennedy had American Marines fighting and dying in Vietnam in 1962, before Americans had ever heard of the place.

They should dock all the pay for the senators. Since they're not working, they shouldn't be paid.

We all know Lettermen is a pig, but the funny part is that the people that come to see his show are bigger pigs for laughing. This country is turning into one big pigsty.

It's no wonder the U.S. is in the shape it's in. Look at the way the elected politicians get in and all they do is fight.

To everybody that loves their Honda and Toyota: The only reason you buy them is they are cheap. When you're out of a job because your employer cannot sell their product because of imports, think about it.

You have to check out "Metal Bands - Official Sites" to find them on the list along with 3993 other metal bands, most of which are located in Europe. Karl didn't join the band until 1994, so he's the "baby" of the band! "

Senate Bill SB-2099 will require us to put on our 2009 1040 federal tax form all guns that you have or own. It may require fingerprints and a tax of $50 per gun.
This bill was introduced on Feb.. 24
This is an amendment to the Internal Revenue Act of 1986. This means that the Finance Committee
can pass this without the Senate voting on it at
all.

The full text of the proposed amendment is on the U.S. Senatehomepage,

You can find the bill by doing a

I had to laugh over it all, it was funny to see this small cat compared to Misty, actually removing her thru 3 rooms and corner the poor dog! One would think this cat was a pitbull of sorts, when normally he's the most playful cat we have!

I have mounds of paperwork, to sort thru, so many things going on at once, I need better organization for it all.

My son with the grandkids are coming over in the AF, he called to ask what I will be cooking for HIM on HIS father's day!
lol---he's such a character!

You know how it is with pets, cm -- they have to sort out their own pecking order. As long as no one is trying to kill each other, it's best to let them work it out themselves, though I know what a pain it is for the family until they do!

Mostly done with housework, but stopped to upload scans of a couple athletic team photos I found in a box with trophies and my high school diploma (bringing stuff here from Farmer Guy's barn). Also a box of old letters from family and friends, including some with whom I have recently re-connected on Facebook.

Finally got this batch of boxes into storage so I can clean up the dust and crud they trailed behind. Then we hit the upstairs, and then done with housework! My project du jour is to re-cut the mats for a large print for my dining room -- when the frame guy cut it down (big job), he left it not-square, so it's been a b*tch to get glass cut to fit, the mats have to be trimmed, etc etc. It will be stunning when done -- close-up still life with an unusual perspective (from above) -- but, boy, is this one a LOT of work. We've had him since 1 wk old, he was raised with the dogs, and he really thinks he's a dog! He chased the shepard until he had her pinned in a corner, as if to say 'this is my house you are an alien!'

Schools are now equipped with computers that adults can access, and bathrooms as well. I am well aware that some families in the Tennessee mountains still don't wear shoes. I would also like to point out that every time oil or gas is purchased for a vehicle, that person is supporting terrorists. So I wont put a 'staple' on either mechanically.
Its more so the economy and greed of the corporate world that sank these industry's. Not the products they produce, or the blue color workers that have spent their lives building them.
Now Ford still a family owned business has not asked for a hand out and their ex retired employees have benefits still. Family owned business's are thriving in this economy if you havent noticed , less corporate greed and more sharing amongst the workers and it is working for them!
It's more of a good money management process and not being greedy that has made Ford stay Family owned and still intact with this economy.
As far as I know, Ive never seen any good things become of greed in a long run. "

Miss M really wanted THIS dog!
After playing with her, getting to know her, she is very lovable, already fetches & returns a ball, and sits when told! It's a start to what will be a very spoiled life for Misty!
She will be Miss M's dog..sleep in her room, she will be responsible for Misty.
I'll just pay the bills for shots and checkups! lol..
Since Misty came thru our door, she is doing everything to be friends with our 2 other dogs, and she never once attempted to attack the cats!
She is having a blast running the fence line with the neighbors Lab, already pals!
I am already in love!!!

I thought about MY dog Tia, for me to have MY own dog--I would have to get one while M is at school--this way I would have more hours with it alone. That is how Tia became JUST my dog, my shadow!

I have owned a shepard many moons ago along with a teacup poodle, they both had their good and bad qualities. "

" I just had a new clutch put in my 2002 Toyota (with about 125,000 miles) -- it was under $600 including both parts and labor. I consider that a good investment. My oil changes are the usual price -- nothing extra because it's a foreign car. Maybe it costs mroe for some of those "fancy breeds," but your common Toyota, Honda, etc doesn't seem to cost more to maintain than any other vehicle.

BTW, Hyundais used to be pieces of garbage that didn't last at all -- we saw a lot of them when I was doing bankruptcy (spring 2003) -- but I have heard they are much better now. "

" Overall, I think U.S. automakers produce a good product. The Japanese and Koreans make a good product too. I have owned both, and have come to the conclusion----keep them both, and you'll find that in the end you spend the same amount of money on repairs, etc. You may go longer between repairs with a foreign car, but compare prices on labor and parts. I had an '03 Audi A8---how does an oil change at $200.00 strike ya? How about tires at $300.00 each? 50k maintinence which did affect my warranty if it wasn't done was over $800.00. My current Subaru Legacy is cheap now, but I saw some repair orders at the dealership for ridiculous $$$$$$. I think the biggest problem was that for every GM car built, 20% of the cost to the dealer was directly attributed to the benefits to union workers. Not wages---just benefits. No wonder they were not profitable. I believe that the unions ruined the American Auto industry. Look at New Venture gear. "

" i bought a toyota because i wanted a car that works well. had nothing to do with the cheapness. in fact, for the money you get a much nicer car made by toyota, honda or hyundai. all produce a much nicer car for the cost. plus, they last forever. you can buy a toyota and barely take care of it and it will run for hundreds of thousands of miles. no problem. by the way, the cheaper models that are "american" brands aren't made in america either. so if you want a cheap hatchback. you can either buy a toyota yaris or honda fit which are not made in america or you can buy a chevy aveo which is also not made in america. yet you are still supporting the americans that sell those cars, and the americans that work on those cars, etc.

there is no difference. if you want to support an american company, thats fine, but i want a car that is reliable. sorry. "

" Where I worked, we were subject to random drug testing, and I believe it included alcohol testing. I believe random testing should be done for anyone on public assistance. I don't believe that cutting off their welfare would ever fly, but give much reduced benefits. I would support cutting them off, but I can't see it ever happening.

As for Ford, GM, and Chrysler, they build good vehicles, although too many models. I've always been GM, I think 17, not high mileage, but all good cars. When you buy the higher horsepower cars, you don't go for mileage. My son had a Ford Ranger for 13 years with 138,000 miles and, at that mileage, had new clutch, timing belt, and a few oil leaks repaired. It was time, preventive maintenance. No major repair work. I will ALWAYS buy American cars. "

" Get the shepherd, cm. Personally, I wouldn't never even consider any kind of miniature poodle -- my grandmother had one and it was one of the nastiest creatures I have ever known, spoiled, agressive, filthy and it chewed up my brother's legs when he was just a toddler (which my grandmother denied, despite the poor kid standing there bleeding). Personally, I can't stand little yippy dogs -- give me a real dog you can thump on the back with affection.

(A full-sized poodle is another matter -- my uncle has one and he's terrific).

We had a shepherd mix for some years, and she was the most loving and loyal, wonderful animal. Having a bit of a mix helps keep an animal from being high-strung, while the shepherd in them makes them especially smart and protective.

But, for your daughter, don't you think she'd feel safer with a big, sturdy dog like a shepherd? As herding animals they have a sense of protecting and caring for those they love. Your girl's been through a lot lately, so in your place, I am sure I would go with the shepherd, esp. since M. wants one so badly.

Your call of course, but that would be my Two Cents! ;-) "

" I can see drug testing in todays society, more in jobs that involve motor vehicles, machines, construction etc. But I totaly agree with david and cm, our tax dollars are supporting a lot of dead beats, and our tax dollars are being spent on drugs, if there is any doubt that a person on assistance is using drugs, they should be tested. I am not saying everybody on assistance is a drug user, there are a lot of good people on assistance today because of various reasons, but there are a lot of lowlifes that have abused the system for generations, and should be subject to mandatory drug testing, I'll bet you see a bunch lowlifes disappear from the rolls. "

" I am a sap when it comes to animals, obviously since I have zoo-crew here!

my daughter and I stopped at the local SPCA in Lakeland, on our way to visit my son today.

since My dog only died a week ago, I am really not ready for another yet, but the child is!
She scopes the SPCA's/rescue group's within 100 miles daily on the internet.
She wants a german shepard mix, I would rather have a teacup poodle.

anyhow, the shelter cages were full, yet still a long line of waiting people to drop-off their unwanted pets.
My heart was breaking, as I was missing my Tia, and I am staring at all these people, plus 4 huge rooms full of pets.
Pets that just need a home!

I bring this up because we tend to give alot of food the local churches, they do accept PET FOOD too.
The SPCA is also in need, besides food, they also could use towels, blankets, and throw rugs or bathroom rugs.
So before you throw things out remember your trash might be a dog or cats treasure.

no, today I didnt come home with a new pet, I was tempted though. "

" david: your earlier post was right on the money!
I havent a clue as to why I have to be drug tested for a job, and they don't have to be drug tested for assistance!

the missing liberal on this site would beg to differ, stating the children would suffer and the poor would be poorer without assistance..
but I feel, the (drug) adults shouldn't be rewarded with tax paying dollars, and maybe the next generation would learn there are rules and consequences! "

I had a 1995 Chevy Blazer, the first year they came out with 4 doors. I bought it new July of '94, and didn't trade it in until 2006, with 210,000 miles on it!
being a 4.3 engine, it was great on gas! "

Farmer's Gal wrote on Jun 17, 2009 8:09 PM:

" Hondas and Toyotas are NOT cheap. Even their resale value with over 100,000 miles on them is high. That's because they are better made and last longer.

My 2002 Toyota has over 125,000, has only had to have one major repair, and still gets about 45 mpg. You won't find a Chevy, Ford or GM car which can honestly say the same when it is so old and has so many miles, not even those which have had constant ideal care, which mine has not. "

FS II wrote on Jun 17, 2009 7:39 PM:

" People buy foreign built cars for various reason, they better built than american, better gas milage, last longer than american built, better warranty, and yes they are cheaper. One of the main reasons that your american made cars are more expensive, is labor cost, every three or four years the Auto workers union needed more money and benefits, well they got more money and all their benefits, put themselves right out of work. Give me a foreign built car any day. Just my opinon. "
