They say the taxpayers own 60 percent of GM and Chrysler, so can you tell me why a taxpayer would buy a Toyota or Honda? It's like Danny Wegman shopping at Price Chopper -- stupid.
New York is one of the highest taxed states in the country. Have you seen what is going on in the California state budget -- New York may be next.
Everybody in Auburn is not a Yankees fan. There's a number of Mets fans of which I am.
The reason we write about Auburn teacher salaries is some people are on a fixed income or don't get 4 percent every year. When people can't afford their property taxes, they leave the state.

the worst problem I see in NY starts with the laws, basically they are LAX!
drugs and sex offenders receive alot less YEARS than here in FL.
the second woe is the judges, they have the power to GIVE THE MAX!!!
they should start to be known for 'THE MAX, not the LAX'
as I have said eons ago on this subject,
I would post signs at the city limits:
Auburn, city of THE MAX!
Bone, you seem to be a concerned city tax payer, look into starting a petition to toughen the laws.
Petition, write letters, protest and demand the judges give THE MAX! "

the funds are NOT there for these big rigs, which cannot even be made for about 5yrs..
along with the ships to haul the oil cannot be manufactured for 5-8 yrs out.
And thats if china doesnt order theirs first!! USA wait could be 19 yrs out.

who in their right mind would turn down the money? that would have to be a moral judgement..
I am still suffering from a section of my neighbors tree that damaged my roof..He was NOT insured, so going thru my insurance has not been fun. Because I am inland I dont need flood, nor do I have flood...BUT water damage inside the walls IS considered flood!?!?!
the tree service said the tree was dead, eventually the rest would come down, 50/50 on my house..
the insurance company said: if THIS tree damages my house in another storm, they will not pay!
so to STOP a future 50/50, we paid 1400.00 to take down my NEIGHBORS tree..
(he doesnt work, blah blah blah)
the FLOODing as they called it, destroyed a whole room (which had to be torn down completely),
most of my pantry,
and structural walls in the family room...about 40-50grand in damage, insurance company paid only 4 grand!
errggggggg...

Living here in a hurricane state, I know it takes years to rebuild.
BUT I am actually sick of hearing the HURRICANE, it wasn't Katrina, that caused the damage, it WAS the levies!
It's hard for me to feel sorry, when most didn't have homeowners insurance and I pay HIGH amounts to insure my home.
I can't understand rebuilding UNTIL the levy situation is under total repair!
along with HAVING a better plan for such storms or horrific events.
I know many blame the federal level for what they say 'wasn't done' BUT it really was the state level and below, that 'cut off their borders' isolated their state or simply ran away themselves.
in my own backyard, I can't understand why millions of tax paying dollars are given for free, to those with an ocean view, for hurricane upgrades/repairs!
You know as well as I do, if they have an ocean view, they can afford their own repairs/upgrades!
the government acts as if the inland areas don't need, when it was mostly the inland areas that suffered greatly in 2004, with 4 hurricanes that came thru back to back!
I agree we can never prepare enough for happenings of Andrew's, Katrina's, or 9/11's.....But we can use monies more wisely on levies, home buildings, and insurance coverages. "

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together "

The federal budget deficit soared to a record for May of $189.7 billion, pushing the tide of red ink close to $1 trillion with four months left in the budget year.
The rising deficit reflects increased government spending due to the recession, and billions of dollars spent on bailouts for banks and other troubled companies.
The Treasury Department reported Wednesday that the red ink so far this year totals $991.9 billion. The administration is projecting the deficit for the budget year that began Oct. 1, will total an all-time record of $1.84 trillion. That would be more than four times the amount of last year's record deficit.
Because of the recession, spending has increased for benefit programs such as unemployment compensation and food stamps. Outlays also have risen because of the $787 billion economic stimulus package that President Obama pushed through Congress earlier this year.
The new Treasury report showed government spending totals a record $2.37 trillion through the first eight months of the budget year, 18 percent more than the year-ago period.
At the same time, the economic downturn has cut into tax revenues. The report showed that government receipts total $1.67 trillion through the May, down 18 percent from last year. Rising unemployment and struggling businesses have meant a drop in both income and corporate taxes.
Last month's imbalance compared with a $20.9 billion deficit in April, the first time that happened in 26 years. April is a month when the government normally runs surpluses reflecting tax payments.
The $991.9 billion deficit so far this budget year is more than triple the amount of red ink incurred during the year-ago period.
Under the administration's budget estimates, the $1.84 trillion deficit for this year will be followed by a $1.26 trillion deficit in 2010, and will never dip below $500 billion over the next decade. The administration estimates the deficits will total $7.1 trillion from 2010 to 2019.
Economists are worried that such large borrowing needs could trigger steep increases in interest rates if domestic and foreign investors start demanding a higher return for holding Treasury debt.
Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner traveled to Beijing last week to reassure officials in China, the single-largest holder of U.S. Treasury debt, that the administration is serious about getting control of the deficits once the current downturn and financial crisis have passed.
Is there anyway to stop this spending? Obama has pushed spending through without letting anyone know how he is spending it. TRANSPARENCY, a word that he now has forgotten. "

I am having her cremated, she will be buried with me someday. Tia had slept with me from the day we picked her up..
when she had her first litter of pups, she was torn between wanting to sleep with me and wanting to be with the babies. Jumping onto the bed, off the bed back to the pups, hours of whining!
I caved to not getting sleep, and put the pups in bed with me, Tia was happy, pups were happy, and I was finally getting some sleep...happy!
That was a fun few weeks!
When I would go out of town, she wouldn't eat, she would sit on my bed and whine! I would actually call her on the phone and talk to her...only then would she leave the bed and go eat.
personally I think as she aged, she only slept with me for chocolate, it's my nightly ritual take some kind of chocolate candy to bed with my hot cup of tea. She could hear a 'wrapper opening' from the farthest point of the back yard!
Dogs arent suppose to have chocolate, actually its certain kinds that will kill them, Hersey Kisses were her FAV.
Her love of chocolate costed us over 800.00 one X-mas when she ate a whole bag of truffles and went into sugar-shock! These truffles were the non-dog killing kind, BUT it was the amount she ate! How she got to them high on a shelf, only she knows!
Being a mini-dachshund, only 6-9 lbs, she didn't let her size stop her from what she wanted to get! "

It must be a bad time for pets. Tuffy, my sweet orange kitty, stayed out all night, which he isn't supposed to do. Mostly I can get the two who go out to come in at bedtime, but sometimes they are too caught up in a nice summer evening and don't come when I call. He was there this morning -- and has either been bitten or shot in the shoulder. He has a group of bleeding holes (they don't look like a bite pattern, which makes me think birdshot) -- one of them quite large and deep. At least they are wide open, (the one is a good quarter inch across and more than 1/8th inch deep) and running fairly clear fluid in small amounts, and appear clean, but I'll be calling Doc come 8 AM. I know Tuffy had his shots last summer, but think we'll want a new shot of antibiotic and Doc should have a look and give advice. I did pour peroxide on the wounds -- boy, Tuffy did not like that, but I am sure it is good for him, but he just keeps licking, of course, and has washed away a fair patch of his fur all around.
Pets -- you love them, and like children, sometimes they give you joy and sometimes they give you anxiety. Think of all the love you had from Tia -- 14 years is a good long time for her breed, so she had a long, happy life and I hope she went peacefully. Take care! "

I think we are mostly seeing the latest round of Karl vs CM -- they just have this personal antipathy THING where they both flare up above and beyond the issues. I consider both of them to be friends, at least at some level, though like you, I do not always agree with each of them and sometimes take issue with one or both of their approaches. It's why I have mostly stayed out of this one. "

Honestly, your posts are the equivalent of prosaic-pretzels. If I could salt them and sell them, I could feed the whole of Africa's starving, They'd probably get SICK from your poisoned rhetoric though.
YOu opined the SICKENING opinion that Gay people DESERVE to die of AIDs because, essentially, they are born Gay.
I know that you see it, I know that you know it; YOU know that everyone knows it too, but your GARGANTUAN PRIDE prevents you from admitting it.
WALLOW IN YOUR SHAME!!!!! "

"the Gospel of karl" ... lol
it simply awes me, how he can turn a one-liner into a hatred of a 'whole' group...when it usually is far from the truth.
He changed the meaning of deserve to murder. Attempting to cause an uprising of liberals/Atheists, to fight for something that was never said to begin with.
Because the original writer choose to use that specific quote of the Bible to mean the writers 'thoughts' of same-sex marriages, for all I know that quote could be from any locale in the Bible meaning something totally different.
(I am sure karl can set me straight on this issue since he knows the Bible word for word)
every instance has a cause and effect, his wrong interpretation could lead some nutcase Gay Atheist to go postal. "

But atleast I am NOT blaming you or anyone else for my past, present, or my future!
Karl says: "You should extend your thinking outside of your little world and try to realize that other people matter in this world as much as yourself. Your depraved indifference to some things is just shockingly IN-humane."
CM SAYS: really karl, everyone matters in your little closet?
you are buddies with druggies?
You are buddies with the bible thumpers on Wegmans corner?
You are buddies to child molestors?
ANY one of these COULD be a victim that has carried it on into their adult life,
or just maybe they were BORN that way...let me ask some of your great 1800-ish scientists.....lol
any indifference/IN-humane thoughts rolling in your head as you lay on your pillow tonight? "

I read this today and chuckled:
President Barack Obama is announcing Monday that he is ramping up stimulus spending exponentially in the next three months, allowing the administration to “save or create” 600,000 jobs — four times as many as during the first 100 days since he signed the bill.
Lemme get this straight, we have the worst unemployment in 25 years (9.4%) and BO is saying that he created jobs in his first 100 days. The US lost 1.6 million jobs since the stimulus was passed, but it would have been 1.75 million jobs lost without the stimulus. I think that’s what BO is saying. They want to run on that platform of course, since unemployment is higher, no jobs have been saved.
The doublespeak is fitting since today is the 60th anniversary of the publication of George Orwell’s "1984". "

Sure, I hope people buy GM cars so the country gets back some portion of the money we sunk in those American automakers -- but I'm not interested, personally, in buying their cars until they start making better ones. Here's hoping they can be FORCED to produce higher quality vehicles in order to convince skeptical consumers like me to choose their products over Toyotas or Hondas, which have a better track record for quality, cost-effective running and long life. You have filled your rebuttal with a lot of superfluous bullship to distract people from the point.
"..murder Gays"--the letter writer quoted the Bible verse which said "...those who do these very things deserve death..."--'NUFF SAID. This is CERTAINLY enough to spur on some religious nutcase to murder a Gay person and think it justified. Your predictable semantic bullship games only shows your arrogant Pride. Grow up.
Furthermore, every other argument you make is similarly FOS, and weak at that.
I have cited facts about the HUGE numbers of heterosexual AIDs deaths; you obstinately see ONLY gay deaths--as if you have some point to make? PFAAHH!
YOu still cling to murky uncertainties about the origins of AIDs as if that proves...WHAT? Do monkeys "deserve" AIDs then, Oh Ignorant One? Hey maybe AIDs came from homosexual monkey trans-species orgies?! PFAAAHH!!
You let your resentment of the Gay Marriage issue corrupt and pollute your brain so that Gays "deserve" to die for that which, to them, is NO DIFFERENT than you loving the persons whom you do.
Your rebuttal is essentially another predictable defense of your own ignorance and inability to say that which EVERYONE HERE can so plainly see--that you are W-R-O_N-G in our facts, in your prejudice, in your opinion (because it is based upon errors and misunderstanding) and that YOU CAN"T ADMIT IT--even though you KNOW it.
You know, cm, I could very well make references to YOU "deserving" certain things in your life that happened recently, and saying that you "deserved" it, and you--and everyone else--would call me foul on it, and deservedly so. You should extend your thinking outside of your little world and try to realize that other people matter in this world as much as yourself. Your depraved indifference to some things is just shockingly IN-humane.
Pathetic. Simply, absolutely P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C! "
