The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office is investigating an overnight crash in Fleming that has left two Union Springs residents in serious condition.
Officials said a one-car crash took place on Skillet Road in Fleming sometime prior to 1:17 a.m. Friday, when a newspaper delivery person reported discovering the accident to the county 911 center. Authorities said the 2002 Tan Honda Civic failed to negotiate a curve and went off the south side of the road, hit a culvert and overturned.
Chad M. Wilson, 28, of Union Springs, was the driver. Danielle Gilfus, 23, of Union Springs, was a passenger. Both were extricated from the car by Fleming Fire Department and airlifed to University Hospital in Syracuse, where they were initially in critical condition. The hospital said both were in serious condition Friday night.
The sheriff's office asks anyone with information that could help the investigation to call Deputy Timothy Axton at 253-1132 or Detective Smith at 253-4869.
