The women's soccer coach at Le Moyne College near Syracuse has been accused of sending sexually explicit cell phone messages to a 16-year-old girl he coached in a youth soccer club.
James Riverso, 28, is charged with 11 counts of endangering the welfare of a child and 11 counts of disseminating indecent material to a minor.
Riverso was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. He has been placed on paid administrative leave, a college spokesman said.
Messages left at Riverso's home and office were not immediately returned.
Riverso, a former star at Le Moyne, had been a coach with the Syracuse Girls Football Club.
