The music of The Beatles will provide the backdrop for “BeatleMania Now,” a multimedia show chronicling the turbulent 1960s, at the Smith Opera House this weekend.
News clips and movie footage of John F. Kennedy's presidency, the Vietnam War and the hippie movement will be projected while the four-member cast cycles through the Beatles' history of iconic looks and recreates more than 30 songs by the pioneering British rockers, such as “Can't Buy Me Love,” “Penny Lane” and “I Am the Walrus.”
The show stars Scot Arch as John Lennon, Ricky Vacca and Alex Smith as Paul McCartney, John Perry as George Harrison and Eric Smith as Ringo Starr.
Written by David Krebs and Steve Leber, “BeatleMania” debuted on Broadway in 1977. The current revival tour was reformed from cast members of the original production.
