AURORA - Even with Lewis Morse as medalist for the Southern Cayuga boys golf team, the Chiefs fell to Union Springs, 213-223, at the Wells College Golf Course Tuesday.

Morse finished the match with a 36, while Jordan Dean chipped in with a 44. Ryan Killian shot a 45, Casey Underwood and Jim Weber each rounded out the Chiefs with a 49.
“We've just been off the page to some competition,” Chiefs coach Terry Underwood said. “We're right there and looking forward to the Section IV, Class C tournament.”
Eric Hlywa led the Wolves (11-3) who are currently in a tie for first place in the IAC with a 38. Tim Morabito and Mitch Hares each shot a 40. Michael Bean pitched in with a 45 and BJ O'Hara rounded out the Wolves with a 50.
“Union Springs is a solid team,” Underwood said. “They have the chance of making a run in the IAC and winning the whole thing.”
Morse is preparing for his third time participating in individual sectionals, which will be held at Cornell University Golf Course Thursday.
“He's been focusing on this for awhile,” Underwood said.
Southern Cayuga (6-7) participates in the Class C sectional match at Maple Hill Golf Course in Marathon on Monday.
“We're just going to work on the fundamentals,” Underwood said. “Certainly within 100 yards is where people score. We're right there. We still have a chance to compete.”
