In its first season, the Onondaga women's lacrosse team defeated Monroe Community College 9-7 to win the NJCAA national championship on Sunday.
Former Auburn girls lacrosse coach Amy Spin is the Lazers' coach, and she's joined by former Maroons Brittany Baran, Jamie Handley and Skaneateles' Jessica Chalupnicki.

Onondaga lost in the Region III finals to Monroe last week, its only loss of the season.

While the Onondaga women's team was enjoying its first title, the men's squad was picking up its third NJCAA national championship in four years. Onondaga defeated Nassau Community College 9-8.

Jordan-Elbridge's Kyle Merrill is a midfielder for the Lazers.
