CLYDE -- Authorities have retrieved the bodies of two men who vanished during a fishing trip on the Erie Canal 10 days ago.
Sheriff's Lt. Robert Milby says a Wayne County marine unit found the bodies of Jacob Simmons and Michael Murray floating Friday near a boat launch in Clyde, a village midway between Rochester and Syracuse in western New York where the men lived.
The bodies have been positively identified as those of Simmons, who was 46, and Murray, who was 45. Autopsies were being carried out to determine the cause of death. Their boat has not been found and Milby would not comment on what authorities believe happened to the men.
The search began April 29 when the men didn't return from an outing on the canal.
