The Auburn Police Department has charged two people with felonies in connection with the theft, possession and use of a stolen credit card, after the face of one of them - captured by a restaurant security camera - appeared in local media.
Police said that Michael E. Kenific, 19, and Stacy L. Rindfleisch, 18, both of 126 S. Fulton St., Auburn, were arrested Wednesday.
Police said the arrests are a direct result of a tip received from a citizen who recognized Kenific's photo after it appeared in newspapers and on television. The photo came from Denny's restaurant in Auburn, where Kenific allegedly paid for food with a credit card that had been stolen from a parked car in Auburn March 23.
Kenific is charged with second-degree forgery and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Rindfleisch is charged with fourth-degree grand larceny.
Police said that Kenific and Rindfleisch were held without bail Wednesday night before being re-arraigned on Thursday and returned to the Cayuga County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
