Since Auburn is interested in tourism and the revenue associated with out-of-town visitors, why aren't there more RV campgrounds located within five miles of the city's limits? The land that was allocated for the hotel by the mall would be a perfect spot for a campground/resort.

Great president we have; bows down to Arabs like a wimp. Doesn't surprise me -- he wouldn't last one week in the service.

We don't really need a hotel downtown, or a theater at the old Kalet Building. I agree it should be torn down.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney, is saying we are less safe under President Obama. Recently a small plane entered our air space, fighter planes were scrambled and the plane was escorted to a safe landing while under Cheney, we couldn't get any planes in the air on 9/11.

Lets all thank the NRA and the Republican Party for all the automatic weapons and armor piercing bullets on the streets today. Clinton fought to keep them off the streets and add more police at the time.

In the Saturday, April 4th paper, the DA compares the thought of an Indian reservation to that of the possibility of a red snow shower, clearly a racist comment. Certainly he can't be that ignorant.

Seems every little town down there has a RV stopover for the RV travlers and I loved it We definetly need one and need it at Emerson park area. What a waste of a beautiful place. The empty land there, I refer to. A money maker and torist attraction just sitting idle

" daviddelker, are you serious? Are you trying to compare apples and cinderblocks again?

Because the "force" used with the pirates has NOTHING to do with the illegal war started for profit by Cheney and Bush. Furthermore, I am 110% AGAINST Obama's expansion of the war in "The Graveyard of Empires". I think it's his Viet Nam--thanks to Bush's not-finishing it, and going into Iraq instead. For profit.

And look at what the "force" did--caused more retribution and "pay back" today with more attacks on US ships, and vows to go after US ships.
At least when Obama approved the use of force, he did it quietly and without a lot of swagger and bluster.

Secondarily, I will not say that the economy is great--you'd have to go to Chris for that--but the cable networks have all said that most major economists believe that the Depression will be over by September. Are they right? I have no clue, honestly. But YOUR side is just blathering on, blah, blah, blah about how nothing that Obama is trying to do is working--without having ANY other solution but "CUT TAXES!"

" OK Karl, why is it ok to use force with the pirates, and commit troops to the middle east when it is Obama doing it? For months we have read your garbage with regard to using diplomacy instead of force. So why is it now different? Hey, I'm all for using force on savages, and diplomacy with civilized peoples, but you have double standards. Believe me---it wasn't a single person's life that made the SEALS take action---it was $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ (commerce). The same thing you have cried about since we moved into Iraq. You cried that it was all over $$$$$. The shipping commerce totals in the hundreds of billions every year, and our economy depends on safe passage of freighters. The share prices, and insurance costs for many manufacturers also depends on delivery of their product. With regard to the economy----uh.......maybe I'm missing something Karl........what gains are you talking about? I haven't seen any change----foreclosures are still up, unemployment is still up..........need I go on. Blah blah blah. (that is my response to your response even without reading yours....because I know it'll be garbage) "

" Protesters in dozens of cities and around the country are gearing up to rally against tax day with "tea parties." People gathered to show opposition to President Barack Obama's stimulus plan and mortgage bailouts.

Organizers say they're steamed at government spending and are planning their own mini-revolts. The rallies are designed to echo the original Boston Tea Party more than 235 years ago.
The demonstrations are being held everywhere from Kentucky, which just passed tax increases on cigarettes and alcohol, to South Carolina, where the governor has repeatedly criticized the stimulus package. Large protests also are expected in California, New York and Atlanta.

GWB raised our national debt significantly, and people are rebelling against accelerating this trend. It's a valid protest. We may need health care reform, but to approve a massive amount of money without a plan, would be ridiculus. Banks that received bailout money are not allowed to pay back the loans. The protests ARE valid. "

If you’re a 50-year old-with a college degree, you will pay approximately $81,000 over your working life just to pay the interest on the debt in the Obama budget.

If you’re a 40-year-old, you’ll pay $132,000.

Hey Unknown, there is thing called Google, maybe you should try it out sometime...
Walking hand in hand by two males is common place in the Arab world. A considerable number of Arabs touch more between the same sex, to show liking–not sex. They hold hands, hug each other, kiss if close friends. As Arab customs and behavior condones the outward display of affection between male friends, one may see Arab men, even officials and military officers, holding hands as they walk together or otherwise converse with one another. If an individual Arab does not touch you, he does not like you–or he may be trying to restrain himself because you are not used to being touched. "

As to not needing a Hotel or a Theatre. Those that are interested in the progress of Auburns economy would want any possible industry to relieve our joblessness situation. The current planned Music Theatre Festival project is estimated to bring in 120,000 additional tourists to Auburn as early as 2011. We will need that Hotel and the theatre planned for the Kalet area will be only one of 5 or so that will be used to house local musical productions and those "trying out" for their Broadway openings. It is no longer possible to think big factories for this city. The City of Auburn is correct to back Musical Theatre Festival, Inc., the Stardust Foundation, the Auburn Public Theatre, the Auburn Players, Merry Go Round and the Cayuga County Arts Council will bring the necessary jobs and visitors to the city that we are lacking. " Thanks, Bone, though I celebrate Ostara, the rebirth of the earth -- plants, animals, etc -- this time of year -- I know the thought was kindly intended and so I return it in the same spirit. "

" How absurd. We have been kow-towing to the Israel since WWII (and the AIPAC ever since), no matter what they do, no matter what atrocities they perpetrate, and have brought UPON OURSELVES he resentment and hatred of Arabic peoples because of our uneven and unfair handling of the Middle East ever since. The stranglehold of this small population has us so brainwashed that we think that even TALKING with Arabic countries is some sort of "butt kissing."

There will be no hope of any form of peace or even truce in the Middle East until WE learn to have a more even-handed approach to diplomacy and aid to ALL PARTIES fairly. "

" The types of campgrounds we have been staying in would be a plus for Auburn. Many of them have paved roads within their walls, with landscaping that would compete with Hoopes Park. They have secure gates that require a code to enter when the office is closed (usually at 5 pm). Knowing what I know now about the rv community, if I had had the opportunity (and funds), I would have started a resort type campground in the Auburn vicinity years ago! "

" LOL!

What--did the Citizen editors remove all the religious discussion here for the sake of the Easter Holiday?!

A little bit of fresh air would have been just the thing for Bunny day. "

" I agree with the "campground" suggestion. Another ideal spot for a campground would be at Emerson park, in the area now occupied by the Frisbee Golf Course. Talk about a waste of space. Of course the "high-hats" at Owasco CC would vehemently oppose such an idea...BUT...it is a perfect spot for camping. "
