Three Syracuse men's basketball players have set their sights on a higher level.
Jonny Flynn, Eric Devendorf and Paul Harris are planning to enter their names for the NBA Draft which will be held on June 25 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Underclassman have until April 26 to enter their names and until June 15 to withdraw and return to Syracuse if they don't hire an agent - which none of the three have done.
If Flynn were to return, he would be a junior and could add to his career stats, he currently has 1,211points, 38th all-time. in Orange history. He has started all 73 games of his college career and was named Associated Press All-American Honorable Mention along with Most Outstanding Player of the 2009 Big East Tournament and second-team All-Big East Conference.
His 1,418 minutes this winter are a Syracuse record and his 38 games played tied another school standard. He ranks seventh in career assists with 439 after just two seasons. He tallied 254 assists this past season and recorded a fifth-best single-season mark and second-most by an Orange sophomore. In 36 of his 38 games this season, Flynn scored in double digits for a 15.7 points-per-game average.
Devendorf and Harris both have one year left of eligibility. Devendorf gained a year after he was medically red-shirted after injuring his knee in the 2007-08 season against East Tennessee State. He successfully rehabbed for the 2008-09 season with 82 of his 208 career 3-point baskets coming this season. Devendorf is also top five in 3-point attempts with 550 and percentage at 37 percent.
Harris, a junior, surpassed the 1,000 point mark this past season against DePaul in January. He has 1,253 points in three seasons. He has started 72 of 107 games and averaged 12 points and 8.1 rebounds per game this season. His 413 free throws are seventh all time, while his 571 attempts are tied for eighth. He has posted 28 double-doubles for ninth all-time at Syracuse.
All three players were major contributors in helping the Orange win 28 games and a berth in the 2009 NCAA Tournamen, SU's first appearance since the 2005-06 season. Syracuse beat Stephen F. Austin and Arizona State in the first two rounds before losing to Oklahoma in the regional semifinals.
