Story:
AUBURN - Two state street businesses were closed Wednesday after a fire started in the attic of an adjoining apartment, the Auburn Fire Department said.
Assistant Fire Chief Ralph LaGrett said he believed an electrical fire started in an attic crawl space in the apartment above the State Street Mini Mall, sparking a tenant to call 911 at 10:46 a.m.
LaGrett said firefighters put out the fire within 15 minutes and that a bedroom, the State Street Mini Mall and Rob Barnes Undefeated Fashion each suffered minor water damage.
NYSEG crews were on scene to see if they could turn the power back on for the businesses while leaving it off for the apartment.
No firefighters or tenants were injured during the incident, LaGrett said.
