ROCHESTER -- A softball player has been convicted of criminally negligent homicide for fatally punching a rival team member after a recreational league game outside Rochester last summer.
After a nonjury trial, a judge found 28-year-old Sean Sanders guilty Friday of a felony charge that carries a maximum sentence of four years in prison. Sentencing was set for May 15.
Investigators say 36-year-old Daniel Andrews Jr. took part in a brawl after the game in Parma, a Rochester suburb, and died the next day of bleeding and swelling in the brain.
Witnesses say Andrews punched another player, then was hit once by Sanders. The victim had two bruises in the back of the head and a pathologist testified she couldn't say with certainty which injury led to his death.
