A man who was injured in a two-car collision after a 16-year-old driver ran a stop sign on Saturday had to undergo surgery at University Hospital in Syracuse, the Auburn Police Department said.
Harry Lynn, 51, a longtime paramedic, suffered a broken vertebrae in his neck, several broken bones in his back and internal bleeding after the Dodge Caravan that he was a passenger in was T-boned by a 2000 Pontiac driven by Zachary Tabone, 16, of State Street, Auburn, police said.

Police said they believe Tabone ran a stop sign at the intersection of Cross and Seymour streets at nearly 25 mph before he hit the van, which was driven by Holly Lynn, 33, causing it to roll over into a yard at 173 Seymour St.

Holly Lynn was transported to Auburn Memorial Hospital with shoulder and arm pain and an infant and two children ages 10 and 1 who were also in the van were treated and released, police said.

Tabone and two of his passengers, ages 16 and 17, all refused medical treatment at the scene.

Tabone was ticketed for failure to stop at a stop sign and reckless driving as a result of the accident, police said.

" I know...what was this kid driving, a tank? And I agree, parents should set a good example and teach their kids how to drive, but we all know that when you put teenagers together they don't always make the best decisions. And, as is the case here, people got hurt because of those decisions. Hopefully this was a wake up call for this kid. "

" I wanna know how a car going 25mph rolls a van twice and shatters all the van's windows. This kid apparently doesn't know how to drive and should not have his license. He could have killed anyone in that van. I hope he loses his license for a long time. "

" Driving habits of young drivers are influened by thier parents and other they ride with. Teach kids the best driving hadits. Show them dont tell them if they dont see that you are showing them how to, they can pick up your bad driving skills or habits. As a young driver i know that its not the easiest thing to do even being 18, my parents took me on the back roads to teach me to drive the right way. 16 year old do not need thier licenses, some 17 years olds should not have them either. " Again, why 16 year olds should not be behind the wheel of a car, especially with other teenagers in the car. I thought that there was a certain amount of time that a 16 old had to wait to get his/her license now. Am I imagining that? "
