If this ridiculous road between Grant Avenue and North Street is such a great money making venture, the landowner would simply allow the city of Auburn the right of way for free and he would make the mythical fortune selling the land to big business.

Let's not blame the working man for trying to make a living wage, that will stimulate the economy. Under Clinton it worked well as I remember in the late 1990s lots of good paying jobs.

Mileage is only one thing we pay for these legislators. Let the public know all the perks they get like paying for their cable bills if they use the computer to do their county business and their health insurance.

Thank you Matt Smith for having the good sense not to throw good money after bad money for the unneeded road between Grant Avenue and North Street.

If a large corporation like Target seriously wanted to build between Grant Avenue and North Street, they would buy the overpriced land and turn the right of way access for the completion of the road over to the city.

Well folks, the truth is out. The New York Stock market duped us all into thinking it was a valid way of investing in the future ... What a scam!

" She was making her plans, working on contacting a shelter, and there was another abused woman trying to hook up with her to share info -- but the first one had no e-mail. I don't know if they ever connected. Mostly the advice was not to post anything in a public place for fear it could get back to the dangerous one through his friends. I'm hoping the silence means she is being cautious but making progress and maybe some day, months from now when she is far, far away, she will write in anonymously and let us all know she is safe and happy in a new life where the bad man will never find her. If she is reading this:
be sure to copy important papers NOW, and take them to a safe place such as a friends house.
My soon to be EX took them all, I am having a costly/time consuming mess getting them replaced. "

FL's just went up to 4.29 per pack, 36.99 per carton. "

" I looked for your icon Karl but I have no intentions of messing up my sons laptop--which I am sure I will do! lol

funny thing, I had my cell phone to the right of the laptop, ateast 5 times I grabbed it as if it was the mouse, then looked at what I did and said DAH!

I was watching my son earlier on this thing-in utter amazement as to how fast he is and makes this thing do what he wants!

my other son has a laptop too, but he uses a mouse with it--that I can handle.
I so miss MY computer! If there is a next time I am not leaving home without it! lol

summers here in FL are pretty hot. but I have to agree being in Ny without A/C makes for miserable sleeping, sadly we cant all leave our windows open these days! this week its in the 80-85's, but low humidity-so its very comfortable.

I am not fond of AZ summer heat,of all the places I have been CA has the best weather!

tonight the son and his girl headed out to 'put on' a bikini contest. they invited me to go but I said if there weren't any guys in thongs then I'm not interested! hahahaha

tomorrow night, they are taking me to House of Blues, I have never been there, this should be an interesting adventure.I do like LIVE music better than a DJ.
karl, I have ear plugs from my recent MRI, in case you roll into town!
I had to use them last weekend, the bands were so loud! "

" FG....it got up to 90 today, but it's not like the 90's we get in Auburn. The low humidity does make a difference.
I can see where your friend is in better shape being out here. The long winters are very depressing in NY. There is nothing better than sunshine to lift one's spirits!

Gator...last winter we were in Florida and enjoyed the time we were there. However, one reason we're coming back to Arizona instead of Florida next winter has to do with the traffic (or lack of). We stayed 3 months in Benson, AZ which has 3 traffic lights, a Wal-Mart, local hospital (that doesn't charge you to park) and friendly people (and a 1-day "snow storm"!) "

" cm, there's a way you can change the sensitivity settings for the touchpad--you should have an icon in your taskbar at the bottom of the computer screen.
On my Toshiba laptop it's called the "Touch and Launch". If you right-click on it and open it, you should get a bunch of options that you can cycle through and monkey around with. "

Gator wrote on Mar 20, 2009 5:55 PM:

" excnyer-that awesome weather for Arizona. We're still having some high 70s weather, with the temp in the high 50s at night. I have to tell you though I can't do Arizona in the summer, I have family and friends out there that have gotten used to it and wouldn't live anywhere else. I get a kick out of people who say they can't handle FL summers because of the heat, but to me going to Auburn in the summer is worse. Most homes don't have A/C and it's pretty darn hot! I also just can't understand why people want to freeze in the winter, but as we say here we're glad not everyone loves our weather or we'd be overcrowded. lol There are a few Islands I've been to such as Antigua, Acsension and Guam that have gorgeous weather throughout the year. "

Farmer's Gal wrote on Mar 20, 2009 4:29 PM:

" I never enjoy 80+ weather -- makes me feel ill when it gets that hot, and I sometimes pass out when the weather gets over 90. You enjoy it, but rest assured I am not in the least envious -- 17 overnight is a bit nippy for March, but I have lived through worse.

You can always put on more layers, but you can only take it all off -- and if it is still too hot, you are out of luck. I'd rather have the cold.

I don't have the touchpad on any of my computers, but have used others. I know you can still get a mouse to attach, but cm is living in tentative temporary conditions with one of her sons and has to use what is available -- was only looking for guidance on how to get by for the interim.

excnyer -- I have a dear friend out in Arizona somewhere -- he retired from many years as a parole officer in Manhattan and moved to Arizona -- but he never takes a lease for more than 6 months. He's well into his 60s and a total fitness fanatic -- he's in better shape than many 20 year olds. Since I keep in touch via e-mail, it doesn't much matter to me where he is physically located. He is a regular non-singing super with the Phoenix Opera, and I am sure I could reach him that way too if I liked. An unusual character. If I knew where he were now, I'd send info in case you wanted to meet up. "

" We are enjoying the weather in Ehrenberg, AZ with clear blue skies and 80+ degree weather. It's nice to be back in Arizona after being in California for about 3 weeks. The I-10 traffic is unbelievable! "

" You gently slide your finger back and forth across the surface of the square and it will move your cursor -- takes some getting used to, but it's not too bad. There is a way you can tap your finger two times for double-click, but I always found that tricky and just used the button below the square. Does that help, cm? "

right now I am using my sons laptop, which is nothing I am used to, especially without a mouse. I am twirling and banging this tiny square box and havent a clue as to how to make it do what my MOUSE would do!

" It is obvious who had the biggest hand in the NPG vote----the union officials......They scare people into a vote that benefits the union bosses. The unions had their place many years ago when workers were abused. Now, they have drained the American economy---automobile manufacturers, nursing homes, hospitals, schools....how many of those people are abused? Verizon, Walmart.....the list could go on and on. The only people benefiting are the union employees-collect the dues at any cost. Now we have Obama trying to push legislation through to help the unions trick people into membership. Its a shame AND a sham. Now people, how is my punctuation and spelling? I wouldn't want to be the subject of ridicule because I have cancer or MS. "

" I find it shock that someone that so openly criticizes others spelling and grammer would post the following atrocity against the English language:

"Yes, a living wage is a better thing to have than a low-paying job, but a low-paying job is better than no job -- which is what the NPG folks are now facing, because there are no other jobs out there to be hand and thousands of other people out there looking ahead of them, with more to follow. " "

teacher1 wrote on Mar 19, 2009 12:39 PM:

" Having spoken with people who actually work at NPG, there was no guarantee that they would have a job, regardless of whether they agreed to this contract or not. Even if they had agreed to give up even more of their pay than they already have--which is quite substantial--they would have probably lost their jobs anyway. I'm sure that the people who voted against this contract did not make this decision lightly. "

Farmer's Gal wrote on Mar 19, 2009 11:42 AM:

" The Stock Market has never been anything but gambling like any other form of gambling. If you can't afford to lose it, don't gamble it.

A living wage is one thing, but saying no to a contract when the alternative is not a bluff was just foolish. Yes, a living wage is a better thing to have than a low-paying job, but a low-paying job is better than no job -- which is what the NPG folks are now facing, because there are no other jobs out there to be hand and thousands of other people out there looking ahead of them, with more to follow.
