The United Way of Cayuga County recently elected board members at a recent meeting in Auburn.
2009 Board President Dr. Daniel P. Larson presided over its 86th Annual Membership Meeting, and John Latanyshyn, 2008 board president, opened the meeting recognizing retiring members Jon Budelmann, Miguelina Cuevas-Post and Jill Fandrich.
Latanyshyn is also rotating off the board.
“It has been my privilege to be part of the United Way of Cayuga County these past six years. What I first understood as a yearly fund raising effort, I now know it to be more,” Latanyshyn said in a news release. “The annual United Way campaign is my community, friends, neighbors and co-workers at their best. It is about people volunteering and giving for a great cause, and most of all it is about the true caring of all the people in our community.”
Elected to serve their first three-year term were: James Courtney, 2008 Campaign Chair; Jennifer Haines, Director of Planning & Development of city of Auburn; Nancy Siefka, Director of Cayuga County Office of the Aging; William Speck, Superintendent of Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES; and Dr. Larson, Cayuga Community College President.
Elected to serve their second terms were: Douglas Rutan, Michael Evans and John Nicandri. Elected to serve one year as representative for the United Way's agency partners was Elisa Hunt, executive director of Literacy Volunteers.
