HIT: To $1.17 million of federal stimulus money which will help the Port Byron Health Center provide better dental care and expanded facilities.
The center, which already serves farmworkers, will be able to serve other patients in the community.
MISS: To a scary apprehension of a man wanted on fraud and identity theft charges in this state and in Florida.
Onondaga County sheriff deputies tracked the man to an Auburn shopping plaza on Monday night. During the arrest, a deputy suffered a broken hand trying to apprehend the suspect and a taser was used to finally end the attempted escape.
For anyone who came across this scene, it had to be jarring. Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt and the suspect has been captured.
HIT: To the possibility that a Hollywood legend could come to Auburn.
U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer has written famed director Steven Spielberg in hopes Spielberg will shoot portions of his new Abraham Lincoln film at the Seward House in Auburn.
Spielberg's movie is based on the book “Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln,” which examines Lincoln's relationship with Secretary of State William Seward.
The movie, whether or not any of it is filmed here, will boost the stature of Seward and hopefully bring even more tourists to Auburn to visit his house.
HIT: To the forecast of warmer temperatures this weekend, a sign that spring may actually be close.
Another sign of spring is that it's almost time to turn clocks ahead to observe daylight-saving time.
Clocks should be turned ahead one hour before bedtime Saturday night.
Daylight-saving time is also a good reminder to replace the batteries in your smoke detectors.
