ROCHESTER - A twice-fired nursing supervisor accused of a Valentine's Day rampage in upstate New York has pleaded not guilty to murder charges in the first two of four slayings.
Frank Garcia appeared in court Friday, three days after being indicted on first-degree murder and attempted murder charges in the shootings of former co-worker Mary Sillman and passer-by Randall Norman, who rushed to her aid outside Lakeside Memorial Hospital in Brockport. Norman's girlfriend was wounded.
Hours later, police say, Garcia killed another former co-worker and her husband nearly 50 miles away in Canandaigua. He has also pleaded not guilty to murder charges for those killings.
A motive hasn't been revealed, but Garcia had recently been fired by Lakeside and by a Rochester nursing home.
