Lakers advance in OT thriller

SKANEATELES - It took a little spark from Sean Cooney to lead the Skaneateles boys hockey team to a 3-2 win in the fourth overtime over fourth-seeded Rome Free Academy in the Section III, Division II quarterfinals Friday.

Seniors Kyle Christine and Lex Johnson made their final moment in the Allyn Ice Arena a memorable one as Johnson assisted Christine for the game-winning goal with just 1:50 left in the fourth extra period.

Second-seeded Skaneateles (16-8-1) will face off with top-seeded New Hartford (22-2) Wednesday. The Spartans are coming off an 8-2 win Cortland-Homer.
