The top-ranked Syracuse University men's lacrosse team advanced to 2-0 on the season with a 17-6 win over No. 18 Army at the Carrier Dome Friday.
Despite trailing 3-1 after the first quarter, the Orange went on an 11-1 run in the second and third quarters to take over the game. Senior Kenny Nims led Syracuse with three goals and three assists, stretching his streak to 18 games with at least one score. His classmate, Dan Hardy, racked up a personal-best five points, with three assists.

The Orange's 17 goals were the most give up by Army since Auburn native Joe Alberici became head coach. Black Knights' goalie Tom Palesky made five saves in the first quarter to keep the Orange at bay, while the offense racked up three early goals.

In the second quarter, Syracuse found the net four times on 10 shots to take the permanent lead.

Baldwinsville native Jeremy Boltus led Army with four points, including three assists. Skaneateles native Devin Lynch contributed a goal off the bench, as well as a ground ball. For the Orange, Jordan native Tom Guadagnolo scooped up a ground ball on defense.

Syracuse held the edge in shots, 51-24, and ground balls, 43-35. The team will close out a three-game homestand against No. 2 Virginia at 7 p.m. next Friday.
