HIT: To the variety of activities taking place this week for children on school break.
The Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center is hosting an art camp, the Seymour Library is planning a long list of events, the Red Cross is conducting babysitter training, the YMCA and Champions for Life are brimming with activity. All of these places and so many more are out there for children to stay active during the week off.
It's sure nice for them to have options besides sitting on the couch in front of the television.
MISS: To the people who attack Gov. David Paterson by making fun of his blindness.
There's nothing wrong with vigorously disagreeing with the governor's policies and actions - in fact it's part of a healthy public discourse. But there's no reason for anyone to attack him for his physical disability.
It's not only disrespectful and ultimately hurtful to the governor, but also to all people who live with blindness.
HIT: To German Shepherd Rescue of Central New York, which came to the Petco store in Aurelius on Sunday to share its story with other animal lovers.
These volunteers have done some terrific work looking out for dogs that need a good home, and we're glad they had a chance to come to Cayuga County to spread their message.
HIT: To a terrific weekend for Syracuse University athletics.
The men's basketball team earned a thrilling overtime victory Saturday against rival Georgetown, in a game that featured the largest on-campus crowd to see a college basketball game this season. The overwhelming majority of those fans wore orange, making for an even more exciting atmosphere at the Carrier Dome.
The next day followed with the school's lacrosse teams, the top-ranked men's squad and the second-ranked women's team, opening their seasons with impressive wins.
