Luke Cook, Gavin Ludemann, Jimmy Weber and Allen Wikstrom finished third in the 200 freestyle relay (1:46.48) for the Southern Cayuga boys swim team as the Chiefs took fifth overall in the IAC League meet at Elimira Free Academy Saturday.
Thomas Fessenden set a personal best time in the 100 breaststroke with a fourth place finish (1:13.7).
Wikstrom, Fessenden, Weber and Cook placed fourth in the 200 medley relay (2:23.00).
The Chiefs set personal records in all of their events including a sixth-place finish for Weber in the 50 freestyle (25.48). Phil Littlejohn, Sam Ayers, Ludemann and Fessenden finished fifth in the 400 free relay (4:19.10).
Ludemann took 10th in the 200 freestyle (2:23.58).
Wikstrom finished eighth in the 200 IM (2:34.94) and ninth in the 100 backstroke (1:11.37). Cook finished seventh in the 100 butterfly (1:16.16), while Fessenden placed seventh in the 500 freestyle (5:58.15).
Weber placed ninth in the 100 freestyle (56.52).
Southern Cayuga swims in the Section IV preliminaries at Watkins Glen Wednesday.
WRESTLING
Section III, Class D Tournament
Cato-Meridian, third place
Port Byron, seventh place
For the Blue Devils, Dom Giacolone finished first in the 112-pound weight class, while Nick Lalone (152) Austin Lee (285) and Ethan Holt (160) pound weight class also took first in their classes.
Allen Holdridge finished second in the 130 pound weight class, while Joe Guiffrida finished third in the 171 pound weight class to round out the six Cato-Meridian wrestlers headed to the Section III, Division II tournament.
Also for the Blue Devils, Kyle Mapley (112), Nick Pultz (125) and Pat Walton in the (135) all finished fifth.
Caleb Green (112) took second place for the Panthers with a 2-1 record. Mitch Janes (119) finished fourth as he went 2-2 and Christian Cobb (135) also finished fourth with a 2-2 record. Justin Quimby (215) placed fourth, as he went 2-2.
Noah Adler (285) finished fifth at 1-2, while Rich Martinez (119) and Adam Malenick (160) each took sixth as they went 2-3.
Section IV, Class B
Union Springs, 8th Place
Andy Klock and Rich Thurston each won their weight classes classes as Klock wrestled at 135 and Thurston at 140.
Tom Weir (215) and Mike McDeid (125) finished fourth. Dustin Ponce placed fifth in the 140-pound weight class.
They move on to the Section IV finals in Binghamton at the Broome County Arena Friday.
